On December 7th, residents explored Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, discovering its cultural heritage and modern transformation. The tour included visits to landmarks like Guan Di Temple, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, and Gurdwara Sahib Polis, highlighting the area’s spiritual diversity.
The residents also learned about iconic sites like Kwai Chai Hong and the Lee Rubber Building, gaining a deeper appreciation of Chinatown’s evolving landscape. The experience was both educational and engaging, fostering new connections and shared discoveries.
On December 19th, the Student Resident Council (SRC) brought the holiday spirit to life with a Christmas Charity Event, welcoming 23 children from Rumah Charis for an evening of joy and celebration. As part of the SRC’s “Sponsor a Kid’s Smile” initiative, residents sponsored gifts from the children’s personalized wish lists and volunteered to pair up with them for the event.
The evening featured icebreaker games, coloring, cookie decorating, and a university tour for older children, creating a meaningful and fun-filled experience. It concluded with a shared dinner and a heartwarming gift-giving ceremony, making the night truly special for both the children and residents.
This event embodied the true spirit of Christmas—giving, connecting, and creating cherished memories for all.
To bring festive warmth to those staying back for the holidays, the Resident Community Services team has hosted a Hot Chocolate DIY Pop-up Booth on December 23rd. Residents got to customize their own hot cocoa with toppings like marshmallows and chocolate chips, creating a cozy and heartwarming holiday experience.
This simple yet meaningful event spread holiday cheer, leaving participants with warm hearts, happy memories, and a sweet start to their Christmas celebrations.

On 15th January 2025, residents participated in an empowering Self-Defense Workshop led by Dr. Shamir Rajadurai, a renowned crime prevention specialist. The session covered crime patterns in Malaysia, threat identification, and hands-on breakaway techniques for escaping dangerous situations.
Participants practiced self-defense skills focused on real-world scenarios, emphasizing techniques that don’t rely on physical strength. The workshop also explored the legal aspects of self-defense, ensuring residents understood their rights.
It was an engaging and insightful session, equipping participants with life-saving knowledge while fostering a stronger sense of safety and community.
In collaboration with UNHCR, Taylor’s Residence hosted a Marketing & Financial Literacy Workshop at the Lady Ayaz Sewing Centre on December 18th. This session equipped refugee women with essential skills in budgeting, profit management, and digital marketing to help scale their businesses.
Led by the founder of JomBoss, the workshop provided valuable tools for online product promotion, supporting participants on their path to self-sufficiency. We’re proud to contribute to this impactful initiative.
We are pleased to share that our Mental Well-being Check-in Program continues to run successfully, providing residents with a safe space to express how they’re feeling.
Quarter 4 (Oct–Dec 2024) Results:
To support residents, our Residential Experience Manager personally checked in with those who responded "Could Do Better" and "Not Doing Great," offering assistance through text, calls, or in-person meetups.
By January 2025, the program saw significant improvement, with 80% of residents now feeling great and a sharp decline in those needing extra support.
We remain committed to prioritizing residents' well-being and ensuring they receive the support they need.
