A Warm Welcome to Our New Residents!
We are thrilled to welcome all new residents to Taylor's Residence, their new home away from home. Our August and September intake orientations were a wonderful start to this new chapter, with over 200 residents attending engaging activities such as bonding games and interactive booths. These events provided a great opportunity for residents to settle in, meet new friends, and explore the vibrant community awaiting them.
We’re confident these activities help ease the transition for your child and make them feel at home.
Mid-Autumn Festival: Celebrating Tradition Together
On 19th September, the residents came together for the Mid-Autumn Festival, embracing the tradition of lantern-making and participating in the snow mooncake workshop. This event offered a chance to explore rich cultural traditions while learning new skills and deepening their appreciation for diversity.
It was a heartwarming occasion that fostered community spirit and celebrated cultural exchange.
Malaysia Cultural Day: A Night of Unity
On 26th September, the Student Resident Council organized Malaysia Cultural Day, an event where residents came together to celebrate the vibrant cultural diversity that Malaysia is known for. From indulging in traditional Malaysian dishes to engaging in cultural activities like batik painting and traditional games, the evening was a meaningful way for everyone to connect with their peers and learn about the multicultural heritage of Malaysia.

Fire Drill: Keeping Our Residents Safe & Prepared
In August, we have conducted a fire drill to ensure residents know how to respond in emergencies. This activity helped familiarize everyone with evacuation routes and procedures. By participating, residents are now better prepared to act swiftly and confidently, ensuring both their safety and that of others. Thank you to everyone who took part in keeping our community safe!
Basic Safety & Health Workshop: Empowering Residents
On 30th September, residents participated in a hands-on Basic Safety & Health Workshop led by our EHS Manager. The session focused on emergency preparedness, teaching participants how to identify potential risks and create effective response plans.
This workshop provided valuable knowledge and practical skills, equipping residents with the confidence to handle emergency situations. We’re committed to ensuring that everyone in our community feels empowered to prioritize safety.

Level Up: Boosting Productivity with Microsoft Teams
On 25th September, we held the “Level Up” training session to teach residents how to use Microsoft Teams for better academic and personal task management. Residents learned new skills to help them stay organized, collaborate effectively, and succeed both in their studies and future careers. The positive feedback from the session shows that we’re on the right track in supporting their growth.
Speak Easy: Mastering Conversational English
We’ve recently introduced a six-week online English course to support residents facing language barriers. The first session featured engaging role-playing activities that encouraged participants to practice conversational English. Residents took the lead in conversations, boosting their confidence and involvement. The positive feedback indicates many felt more comfortable speaking English, and we look forward to continued progress in future sessions!

Microsoft Reflect: Supporting Residents' Well-being
We’re excited to introduce Microsoft Reflect as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting residents' mental health. This tool allows them to check in regularly by responding to quick, fun, emoji-based questions about how they’re feeling.
With this easy and engaging process, we can better understand how residents are doing and provide timely support when needed. Together, we’re creating a more connected and caring living environment where wellbeing is always a priority.
Weekly Tea & Toast: Connecting Over Breakfast
Every Friday, the Resident Community Service and Student Resident Council teams come together to host a Tea & Toast breakfast session for the residents. It’s more than just breakfast – it’s an opportunity to connect and share in a welcoming environment. Residents can enjoy a variety of breakfast options, from bread and cereal to themed weeks featuring local favorites like roti canai and more to come. These sessions offer a relaxing start to the day, fostering a sense of community and well-being.
[OTHER UPDATES]
Goodbye, Common Ground. Thank You for the Memories!
We want to share that our beloved Common Ground co-working space will transition into Taylor’s University offices and consultation areas. We’re grateful for its role in our community and will miss it! As part of the change, please note that the space will no longer be available starting 15th October 2024. Residents can still enjoy cozy spaces at the U Residence’s Reception Lounge and U Lounge for studying or relaxing.
Greener Together: Our Sustainable Initiatives
We are excited to announce the successful implementation of a new renewable energy system at Taylor's Residence and Syopz Mall since 3rd October 2024.
This initiative reduces our carbon footprint and promotes eco-friendly living. In just 5 days, we’ve conserved 104 trees, saved 94 months' worth of lightbulb usage, and reduced CO2 emissions by 1 ton and counting.
Every student at Taylor's Residence is part of our sustainability journey to make the earth greener. We encourage everyone to play an active role by turning off air conditioning, lights, and fans when leaving their rooms. Together, our efforts will create a greener space and reduce our environmental impact.
[LOOKING AHEAD!]
We want to assure all parents that our residents are well cared for through our structured living program, which is designed to support their well-being. As we look ahead to the next quarter, we are excited about the activities and initiatives that will further enrich their experience.
Thank you for your trust in us; together, we are fostering a safe and supportive community for all residents.
